How was nuclear war avoided?

I believe one of the reasons that the nuclear war was avoided by the good communication between the two nations. The two presidents both wrote two to three letters to each other about the resolution. They both step back and put themselves into others position. John Kennedy also presented a good leadership. He not only listened to the generals but also stood for his opinion. I believe one of the reasons of avoided the war was that the two leaders did not make wrong decisions or put themselves into bad position (wanting/starting a war). The last conference also was a important meeting. It was the time they finally had an agreement.

Was the Atomic Bomb a wise or unwise decision?

Do you think the Atomic Bomb was a wise or unwise decision? Please use information learned and discussed in class to support your argument?

I think that it was necessary to drop the Atomic Bomb even though it caused many damages. There were two reasons I think the Atomic Bomb was a wise decision. The most important was that it stopped the war. The two cities would been firebombed anyway. However, Japan might not stop the war if they only firebombed them. The second reason was that even the U.S. did not use the Atomic Bomb, other country such as Canada or GB would bomb Japan. If U.S. did not bomb Japan, they will never know its horror. They would not prevent future use, specially during the cold war, the Atomic Bomb might be misused and cause more damages. Therefore, Atomic Bomb might not be a good weapon to use, I think it was still a wise decision.

Bengamin is born in his eighties and ages backward, how did the team create a men's eighties from Brad Pitts. The first step is to admit that you have a problem. You admitted you have a problem, you believe in yourself that you have enough time, resources and patient. The problem they had was that they need to create a men's eighties from Step two is to break the problem down and attach them. They have three small problems (well, still really huge i think....) They need to make Brad a lot older, make sure that something that make Brad who he is translate through their process, and also create a character that can do daily things. They first focus on using motion capture (it is basically put markers on actor's face and using black light to see he's facial expression), but then they noticed that they need to know what's going on between makers. It looks like video game. Then they decided to use facial capture, it's base on a system called "facial acting coding system", called contour. You use makeup over actor's face then put he under black light. Unlike motion capture, you can see perfectly the face using facial capture. Finally they translate Brad's facial to computer and put them on the old Bengamin's head. Bingo! They got eighty years old Benjamin's head!

Paul Bäumer

Paul Bäumer is the narrator of the novel. He was only 19 when the novel begins and was a member of Second Company in the German Army. Paul was interested in literature. He wrote some poetry and started writing a play. He enjoyed studying and he collect lots of books. But everything changed after the war began, he felt cut off from the past and has no hope and future. The war destroyed his former life and interests. There's nothing except friendship that supported him stay alive. He even thinks that home is no long home, the front line is his home. But that is all he has left. During the war, his friends was killed one by one. There is nothing left for Paul to live for. He is died in battle in October, 1918.

-- What did we do for SMASH Day?
We used paper, mirrors.... to make a periscope.

-- What was your mission?
We were all in a yellow submarine undersea, and found treasures on a island. Our mission is
to make a periscope in order to look out the water and over the wall around the island to
found out what are the treasures.

-- What supplies were you given?
Cardboard, papers, four mirrors, tape, two scissors.

-- How many times did you have to modify your design?
We modify our design three times.

-- How did you know that you should modify your design?
When we hold up our periscope, we soon found out that paper can't hold the wight of mirrors.

-- How did you know what to do when you modified it?
We talked about it and added cardboard, because cardboard can hold more weight than a
piece of paper.

-- How did your team communicate to decide how to modify your design?
We drew our thought on a piece of paper and talked about it. We communicate by helping each other, Vivian looked though the periscope, Melody was passing tape to me, and I adjusted the mirrors.

3. Tips and Suggestions
-- If you could give a list of tips and suggestions to someone who is doing this for the first time, what would it be? What would you tell them to help them out?
My suggestion is that people should think more before they actually start making it. Think simple and don't think about the mirror reflection thing, because it won't work with papers (maybe should try cardboard....?).

I think there's no bias in this article, because it's true that U.S. has many nature resources that can be used. There's no need to buy form other counties.

A California man named Marcelino de Jesus Martinez sold his daughter for cash, beer, and meat. The police in Greenfield, said Marcelino de Jesus Martinez asked them for help to get his daughter back after the payment wasn't made. Martinez was arrested on Sunday. He was scheduled to be arraigned on felony charges of procuring a child under age 16 for lewd and lascivious acts, statutory rape and cruelty to a child by endangering health.

Significance of article?
